Charlotte Chess Club * Greetings from Charlotte, N.C. USA, earth to everyone out there in cyberia and welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club website. On this page, which is continuously updated, we will report a weekly synopsis of the previous meeting to include current standings, annotated games, Weekly Puzzle and other interesting anecdotes for your reading, viewing, and listening pleasure. The Charlotte Chess Club, an Independent Affiliate
of the USCF meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm
(or as early as 5:30 for some!)
McAlister's Deli, 4805 Park Rd, Charlotte, N.C. 28209

  Primarily an "adult" club, the CCC conducts a perpetual
round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7 pm sharp!
The time control is G75 - Entry fee is still $5. ($8 for non-members) Winners receive FREE Entry into next event. (All winners must have at least 4 points with no byes). The Annual club membership fee is $30. Current members receive $5 discount. The venue guarantees a private area with padded chairs and great lighting (lamp over every table!) - 2 players per table!! "Wi-Fi," great menu and prices, direct parking for 100 cars, his & hers sanitary multi-port lavatories and very friendly crew! --- (Management requests that you purchase your meal at McAlister's Deli) --- Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated games. If you are not playing in the tournament, your first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $3. The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss and other special tournaments. For schedule see "Upcoming Events" In order to compete in "Tournament Competition" you must be a member of the USCF ( To join the CCC or USCF you may simply show up at the site and pay the fees!
  Note: Non-members will be preempted by Members who arrive before 6:50pm! Bale Leads Top; Gatlin, Lyko U1600; Cobb Lower Section of McAlister 75

Charlotte, NC 7-17-24: Twelve loyal members of the CCC royal guard converged upon this conveniently located and well sanitized venue more commonly known as McAlister's Deli in order to enjoy a wonderful meal, socialize with other adults, solve the Weekly Puzzle (White to Mate in 2!!), munch on "Big Cookies" and participate in Rd:3 of McAlister's 75. In the Top Section, newly crowned Expert Shawn "Christian" Bale (2007) made quick work of upstart Sammy "the Bull" Fuerstman (1665) to lead with 3-0. Meanwhile, the Pride of Mental Hill, ex-Member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Survivor" Fuerstman (2000) played 1. e4 e5? and made quicker work of Irdi Sejdia (1609) (See Game 2911). In the U1600 Section, returnee to CCC competition Pawel Lyko (1477) outplayed Ilgin "the Mad Turk" Birsan (1487) (See Game 2912) while Winfred "Guns" Gatlin (1541) put the kibosh on Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1610) each leading with 2 points. In the Lower Section, James "Ty" Cobb (1260) outplayed Brice Smith (650) to lead with 2-1 while Dave Cartine (1306) notched the point over a stubborn Emmanuel Cooper (850). In order to observe all results see "Crosstable." The CCC will conduct Rd:4 of McAlister's 75 on Wednesday, Jul 24 at 7pm! (We need new players!! In the U1600 Section, Ilgin "the Mad Turk" Birsan (1409) finished Clear 1st Place with 3-2. In Lower Section, James "Ty" Cobb (1292) and Dave Cartine (1299) finished = 1st Place with 3 points.
